Abstract:

Extended Abstract Introduction and Objective: Considering the importance of salinity in wheat and the multigene nature of this trait, the present study was conducted to investigate the expression of key genes involved in the response of wheat to this stress and to create their network. Material and Methods: In this study, the expression of key genes (HKT, DREB, bZIP, NAC, and WARKY) involved in wheat (ARG, AFLAK, and SIRVAN) response to two salinity levels (14 and 21 dS/m) as a factorial experiment with completely random design were examined in three replications. Finally, their gene network was mapped using Pathway Studio 9.0 software. Results: The analysis of HKT, DREB, bZIP, NAC, and WARKY gene expression showed their differential levels under salinity in wheat cultivars. So that most of their expression increased in the resistant cultivar AFLAK and semi-resistant cultivar ARG, while decreased in the sensitive cultivar SIRVAN. The gene network also revealed that these genes play an important role in the response of wheat to salinity stress as components involved in regulatory and transfer processes through interaction with protein kinases and protein phosphatases. Conclusion: Based on the findings of this study, it can be concluded that the response of wheat to salinity is controlled by a complex network of regulatory genes such as transcription factors, transporters, protein kinases, protein phosphatases, etc. They can be used in future wheat breeding research.

Identification of key genes and pathways involved in vitiligo vulgaris by gene network analysis

Background and Aim: Vitiligo vulgaris is an acquired, chronic skin and hair condition characterized clinically by loss of melanin, which, if untreated, is typically progressive and irreversible. The aim of the present study was to identify potential genes involved in the pathogenesis of vitiligo. Methods: One dataset of mRNA expression in patients with vitiligo (GSE65127) were obtained from ...

Investigation in expression of key genes involved in sanguinarine biosynthetic pathway in Papaver genus under drought and salinity

The presence of morphine alkaloids, anti-microbial and anti-cancer metabolite, sanguinarine, in different species of Papaver genus has made it one of the most valuable plants in the pharmaceutical industry. With regard to the influence of drought and salinity on the increase of secondary metabolites, the present study attempted to investigate the effect of the mentioned stresses on the key genes...

Evaluation of Biochemical Response and Defense Mechanism of Wheat Antioxidant Enzymes to Salinity Stress

Understanding the reaction form and biochemical response of wheat cultivars about the salinity stress can help to better understand the defense mechanisms and identify the indicators and biomarkers of tolerance screening for salinity stress in this strategic plant and other field crop. For this purpose, biochemical traits related to salinity tolerance of wheat cultivars were evaluated as a f...

wheat-rye translocation in iranian bread wheat cultivars and their ion distribution in response to salinity stress

the short arm of rye (secale cereale l.) chromosome 1 (1rs), besides being part of the rye genome, is present in many hundred wheat cultivars as either 1rs.1bl or 1rs.1dl wheat-rye translocation. in this study, the distribution of the wheat–rye translocation was examined in 33 iranian winter and spring wheat cultivars, nine of which had a known donor of 1rs.1bl translocation and the other 24 we...

evaluation of wheat germplasm in response to salinity stress

to improve bread wheat salt tolerance, new genetic sources of salt tolerance are indispensable, and this requires a screening of wheat germplasm. in order to evaluate bread wheat germplasm, 34 accessions including; hexaploid wheats (aabbdd), tetraploid (aabb) and wild relative diploids (dd and aa genome) collected from different regions of iran were evaluated under normal vs. salinity stress (n...

A gene trap approach to isolate mammalian genes involved in the cellular response to genotoxic stress.

Treatment of cells with DNA damaging agents leads to induction of a variety of genes involved in different cellular processes. We have applied a lacZ-based gene trap strategy to search for new mammalian genes induced by genotoxic stress. A population of 32 x 10(3) neo r clones stably transfected with a gene trap vector was obtained, stained with fluorescein di-beta-d-galactopyranoside and analy...
